read more →“Seulement un peu, mais pas très bien.” That’s all I could muster when the server asked, “Parlez vous Français?” But, I’m in Germany! I have no idea why the waiter spoke French or why he had the slightest hope that I would too. But I felt the same way I always do when I travel overseas: Kind of like a centrist American douchebag for not being multi-lingual like the rest of the educated world.
