Hey folks! BTW, y’all got any thoughts on the Glock 42 as a BUG option? Any idea if/when Ol’ Gaston will chamber it in 9mm?

I work in a gun shop, and we have one in stock. I like how terrifically thin it is, while still having a grip I can get most of my fingers on.
Unfortunately, I’m in California, which means it sits in a lonely group of small backup guns, under a sign that says “Law Enforcement Only.” Because of the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale, I can’t buy one.
So, I have a Kahr CW9 instead, which was inexpensive and which I can get all my fingers on.
If Glock doesn’t upsize the Glock 42 and chamber it in 9mm, I’ll never know why.
I absolutely LOVE the way the Kahr feels in my hand, but I hate the DAO trigger. Shooting it always felt so belabored for me. So I haven’t bought one yet. But I do love the size for a BUG.
Ah, sunny California.
I’m a bit late to the party on this one but here’s my 2 ‘cent’s view. The G-42 is a bit large for a contemporary .380 ACP or even 9mm P. With that I’d sooner recommend an SA XDs 9 or S&W Shield in 9mm P. For a .380 ACP the best bang for the buck is the Ruger LCP, it and the XDs 9 are what I carry. Are other options available to choose from? Sure. But I’m recommending what I’ve found to be reliable, accurate and comfortable to carry. This Winter I’ll add an XDs 4″ barreled .45 ACP and a S&W 442 to the rotation.
Thanks! Don’t worry; I can’t complain about anyone being late to the party. I’ve been slacking on posts lately. Trying to catch up with life!
The 42 is super soft shooting, and even though .380 is marginal, I would recommend it for a novice or someone who was not going to practice with their pocket pistol.
I settled on the Kahr PM9 for my pocket rocket, ’cause 9mm!
Also check out the S&W Shield.
Thanks!
BUG means I have a primary with a larger caliber and/or capacity. Most of the time I just opt for having an extra mag for the primary.
I like something smaller like the LCP if I want a BUG or for when I can’t/don’t feel like carrying my regular gun.
When ‘G’ will make it in 9mm is the question a LOT of folks would like an answer to.
It’s a .380. Enough said.
…Hence my inquiry about the 9mm. Besides, this is for a BUG. Or in my case, a BUBUG.
