PowerPoint Press

That’s right! FSP not only publishes blog posts and websites, but we also design PowerPoints and other instructional materials for firearms trainers looking to beef up their classroom presentations. Are you struggling to keep your students engaged? Do you find yourself repeating things on the range that you thought you had already explained in the classroom? Are you dissatisfied with your students’ rates of mastery and retention? We can help. Check out the different tabs below for more information or to submit an inquiry. Using a mobile device? Why choose FSP?

To be blunt, the firearms community has an image problem, IMHO. Outside of our own friendly spaces, we are seldom seen as particularly creative, approachable, or tech-savvy. You can help change these misconceptions with polished, engaging instructional materials from Front Sight Press. In addition to being a firearms trainer myself, I also teach at a large university. As coordinator of my academic program, part of my job is to teach other teachers how to teach. I’m also a lawyer — which calls for lots of teaching too (we have to persuade judges, juries, and litigation opponents). I’m also formally trained in document design, so I tend to nerd out on things like white space, font styles, color contrast, and textual alignment. That’s a little sad, I know. But if I’m obsessing over your instructional materials, that means you don’t have to! 🙂 You focus on your content, and let us tend to all the little details of presentation.

Here's How it Works

If you’re already teaching or considering teaching, then chances are you’ve got either pre-designed presentation slides or rough drafts of your lesson plans. Great! I can work with those files and sprinkle a little magic dust to make them come alive. Or if you’re starting from scratch, I can help out there too. Document design is extremely brand-specific, so the best way to proceed is to send me an email explaining what you need. The more specific you can be, the more information I’ll have to come up with quote and approximate turnaround times. We’ll discuss the particulars and go from there. Below are just a few of the types of media and other instructional materials I can help create for you:

  • PowerPoint slides
  • KeyNote slides
  • Google Slides
  • Prezi presentations
  • Instructional videos
  • Audio files
  • Visual aids
  • Forms (printed or online)
  • Class handouts and student workbooks
  • Interactive modules (synchronous or asynchronous; remote or in-person)
  • Multimedia Integration
  • And much more!

Why This Stuff Is Important

I often hear people say things like, “Who cares what my materials look like, as long as the content is good.” Really? Look at it this way. Suppose a restaurant makes the world’s most amazing steak, but the steak looks gross and smells gross. Would anyone eat it? Probably not. And all that great content — the super-yummy steak — would go to waste. In the context of firearms instruction, we have much higher stakes than steaks. If your students miss out on vital content because the delivery wasn’t appealing, the result could be catastrophic. Moreover, your teaching materials are an extension of you, your business, and your Second Amendment ideals. If we want our target markets (and our opponents) to take us seriously, then we’ve got to present a professional, polished image. We can’t accomplish that with poorly-designed materials and hazy branding.

What do these presentations look like?

Below are just a few excerpts from recent slide decks I’ve created using PowerPoint, Google Slides, or other presentation software. Sometimes our design services only require enlarging fonts, applying consistent themes, and adding compelling imagery or other media. In other cases, we start with a completely blank slate and design anew. The samples below will give you an idea of the kinds of design features available. These are just still shots, so they don’t include transitions, animation, moving images, or sound (all of which we could incorporate into your instructional materials). Don't forget that in addition to PowerPoints, we also design other classroom materials too (handouts, workbooks, visual aids, etc.).
